SUMMARY:Children's Week
DESCRIPTION:The Children’s Week Council of Australia is responsible for encouraging and supporting the widest possible participation of all States and Territories in Children’s Week. Children’s Week is an annual event celebrated in Australia held around the fourth Wednesday in October.  A diverse range of events and activities are organised at National\, State and Local levels. These focus the attention of the wider community on children\, their rights and achievements. Children’s Week celebrates the right of children to enjoy childhood. \nChildren’s Week Council of Australia \nChildren’s Week is a national celebration. It recognises the talents\, skills\, achievements and rights of children. The event takes place in October every year\, with thousands of Victorian children taking part in the festivities. \nVisit this website in early 2025 for the latest Children’s Week updates including the 2025 Children’s Week theme\, the 2025 dates and more information about Children’s Week grants. \nLocal councils\, not-for-profit organisations\, schools and early childhood services organise a variety of events during Children’s Week. These include open days\, displays\, special events\, virtual spaces and online-based activities. The events celebrate childhood and showcase children’s achievements. \nAll Children’s Week events in Victoria are free to families with children aged up to 12 years. This gives Victorian families the opportunity to enjoy fun\, engaging and educational experiences. \n

SUMMARY:Aussie Bird Count Week
DESCRIPTION:What is the Aussie Bird Count? \n\nThe Aussie Bird Count is an activity for all-ages that involves observing and counting the birds that live near you – whether that’s in your garden\, the local park\, a beach or even your town centre. By telling us about the birds you’ve seen within a 20 minute period\, you will help BirdLife Australia develop an understanding of local birds whilst getting to know the wildlife on your doorstep! \n\nHow do I take part in the Aussie Bird Count? \n\nTo complete the Aussie Bird Count\, spend 20 minutes standing or sitting in one spot and noting down the birds that you see. You will need to count the number of each species you spot within the 20 minute period. For example\, you might see 4 Australian Magpies\, 2 Rainbow Lorikeets and a Sulphur-crested Cockatoo. If you can identify birds by their calls\, please include these in your count\, but if you aren’t sure of a bird without seeing it\, please exclude it rather than making a guess. The Aussie Bird Count app has a handy field guide to help you identify birds.   \nOnce you have completed your count\, you can submit it in two different ways:  \n\nYou can submit your bird count through the online web form (this form won’t be made live until the 8 October) \n\nOR  \n\nYou can submit your counts through the free Aussie Bird Count app. The app is available for iPhones and Android smartphones: go to the Google Play or Apple App Store to download the app for free. If you have the Aussie Bird Count app from previous years don’t delete it – it should update automatically with the newest version. The app operates as a field guide/bird finder between event dates. \n\n\nFAQ – Aussie Bird Count \n
